No bake Oatmeal Raisin Protein Bites

My husband and I absolutely loves Oatmeal Raisin Cookies. I was about to make my normal Healthy No-bake Energy Bites and Simple To Make and thought….hmm maybe I can try to make a different version that everyone would love. Ya’ll!! They are SO good! They taste like oatmeal raisin cookie dough. De-licious!! I really hope you get to try them and let me know how you like them.

So I started out with the typical Oatmeal, peanut butter, flaxseed, honey, vanilla but this time I added; raisins and cinnamon. This time around I did not add a lot of cinnamon because I’ve done that before in recipes and it was not good. So to keep it on the “safe side” I added just enough. You can also tweak the recipe if you like more raisins and cinnamon. Oh and next time I’ll add my typical walnuts, I am out of those currently.

Ingredients:

1 cup Oatmeal

1/2 cup Natural Peanut Butter (smooth this time)

1/2 cup Flaxseed

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

1/3 cup Organic Honey

2 tsp Vanilla

1/2 cup Organic Raisins

1 1/2 tsp Cinnamon

Directions:

Put all ingredients in a food processor (I use a Ninja) and mix together. You’ll probably have to stop the mixer to scrap the sides to get it completely mixed together.

Once all mixed together, put it in the refrigerator for 30-60 minutes and then form them into little bites.

I store them in a glass container and leave them in the fridge until I eat them.
Enjoy!!

One foot in front of the other

Yesterday I opened up Facebook and saw a post about an Estate sale. On that post it had a Proform treadmill for $60. I have been dreaming of getting a treadmill again. I know….weird. Treadmills are my thing! I love cardio, I know….weird! I really do though. It helps me lose weight and it honestly makes me happy. On my way home from riding my bike for cardio fun, I stopped by this estate sale. It had just opened and I asked the lady if it really was $60. Long story short, they wanted $65. I checked it out and it looked, sounded and an great! I put a hold on it and came back with my hubby and a vehicle to take it home. I cleaned it super good and just had a chance today to run on it.

Wow wow wee! I love it. This treadmill first cost $800 brand new and I get it for $60. It only had 443 miles on it and that’s nothing for a treadmill. In my opinion. Like I said in my last blog post, do what you love when it comes to exercise. Some people hate cardio, some people hate weights, some people just hate working out LOL Do something you love! I love cardio and taebo. Absolutely love. When I do those two workouts I feel my best!

Get up and go! Start somewhere! And find something you will love to do. One foot in front of the other my friend!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Delicious Apple Bread

Oh my goodness this bread is amazing!!! It is not really “healthy” but eating strict is not my forte. Plus, restricting myself from everything is not really healthy to do. Moderation and self control helps me the most. And kicking butt at the gym 🙂

I made it up at the last minute. I really had no intention to try anything other than make sandwich bread. I just thought, hmm I wonder if this would taste good. And bam! This is a type of bread I am going to make every time I make bread. I double this bread recipe and made this apple bread as a “side” bread. Seriously, its that yummy!

Ingredients:

1/4 Cup Almond Milk (or regular milk)

5 tsp Granulated sugar

1 tsp Salt

5 tsp Butter (I used salted butter)

2 1/2 tsp Yeast (I only use fleischmann’s)

1 Cup Warm Water

3 1/2 Cup Flour

Ingredients for the apple bread:

1 Apple (I used Pink Lady apples) pealed, cut into small pieces

Cinnamon

Granulated sugar

softened butter

The bread recipe has to rise for an hour first. Also, cook the apple pieces in a small pan until just cooked (soft). I put enough water in the pan to cover the apple pieces.

Here is the Recipe for the bread. After I rolled up the bread, I put the bread pan next to the roll and cut the ends off with a sharp knife. Put the perfect fit bread roll into the pan. The two left over ends of the roll I unrolled and flattened into a rectangle shape with a rolling pin. I spread a thin layer of butter on top. Then I sprinkled granulated sugar and cinnamon on top. I had no idea how much to add because this is my first time making it. So I just put as much as I thought would be good. When done with the cinnamon and sugar put 4 small chunks of butter on top. When ready start from longest side and tightly roll up. Pinch the ends together and put into the pan with the seam down. This is what it looks like: Set aside and let it rise with the rest of the bread. Put in the oven and bake for 30 minutes with the sandwich bread. Take out and test the bottom of the pan to see if it is done. I have never had bread that needs to be in longer than the 30 minutes. Once you take it out of the oven take it out of the pan and cool off on the cooling rack.  This bread taste SO good and I hope you try it out.

Today’s a good day, for a good day!! Workout included

I cannot believe that our family actually got 9 hours of sleep last night. With two kids (age 3 and 8 months) it’s pretty rare. Thank the Lord for the sleep! The night before I got 5 hours so it’s a blessing for sure.
Today I had an amazing workout and wanted to share. I love to change things up and I hope you try this workout!

First I need to get this out of the way. I “rest” but not in the traditional way. My “rest” is typically by working out another part of my body. It makes me burn more and it feels amazing afterwards.

Here’s my workout for today:

Put your bench at a 45 degree angle and do the following, I only use 10 lb weights because it burns doing 3 in one’s

1 incline dumbbell curl

1 incline dumbbell fly

1 incline dumbbell press

Repeat 11 more times

*at your “rest” time do 12 lunges on each side

Repeat above for a total of 3 sets of 12

Next workout, smith machine:

12 squats

*at your rest time* do 12 push ups

Repeat above for a total of 3 sets of 12

Next workout on a mat:

12 crunches

12 side crunches each side

20 bicycle crunches

12 push ups

12 side plank dips

25 outside leg lifts

25 inside leg lifts

12 plank dips-opposite side from before

25 outside leg lifts-opposite side from before

25 inside leg lifts-opposite side from before

*I actually rest for one minute

Repeat above for a total of 3 sets
And stretch

Voila! Done! Such a great workout!
Have a wonderful Day!

Platinum blonde hair at home

I seem to be having such a hard time finding a hair stylist I like over here on the east coast. I have gone to 2 hair stylists to get my platinum blonde hair back like I had in California. The first hairstylist I went to over here I spend $200 and that was without a haircut!! And It came out brassy and not good looking. The second stylist I spend $150 with haircut and she said I didn’t need toner?! Weird. I have never had a hairstylist tell me no toner for bleach blonde hair. I had brassy hair, shocking. I also have tried a few different box brands at home in the last year. I was just trying to find a solution and a less expensive solution at that. Well, I finally found a hair dye I can use at home and it is $8.49. You can get it almost anywhere, in my experience so far. I typically get it at Target but i have seen it almost everywhere that hair dye is sold. This hair bleach has worked wonders for me and I do not have a brassy color after using it. I naturally have dirty blonde hair and next to my bleach blonde it looks black. So it is pretty hard to lighten my hair without getting a brassy color to it. If you are looking for a platinum blonde at home dye this is a really good one. I did not filter the pictures below, they are different angles in the light. I absolutely love L’Oréal Féria Absolute Platinum. It is my absolute favorite and I will be using this from now on. The color comes out amazing (for me) and I highly reccommend it. I cannot say you will have the same exact color but I have used this twice with the same awesome results!! I have gotten SO many compliments on my hair!

Disclaimer: I am not a hairstylists and I cannot guarantee you will get the same results. But I am very happy with my results. I also have only used it as a touch up since the rest of my hair is already bleach blonde throughout the years. I do know if you use this hair dye on your already processed hair it may break. That is typical with bleach. Use at your own risk, you are responsible for any harm or damage that you suffer as a result.

Most delicious Zucchini Pumpkin Bread Ever

I have been trying to make this new recipe I found for a week now. Ha ha kids…. I was finally able to make it and I am so incredibly happy with this recipe. I have made a few pumpkin bread recipes in the past and this is the most moist and delicious one yet! If you have been searching for a pumpkin bread recipe, make this one! I promise you will not be disappointed. And no, you cannot taste the zucchini in it.  That is one of the best parts. It does have a lot of sugar and I will be practicing to reduce the sugar content and if I am successful at it I will post it 🙂 I love to experiment with recipes and try to make them healthier when possible. Hope you get to make it and enjoy it as much as I do!

Ingredients:

3 eggs, lightly beaten

2 cups sugar

1 cup canned pumpkin (15 oz)

1 cup butter, melted

1 TBSP vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

1/2 tsp ground cloves

1 cup shredded zucchini (I used the smallest side of the grater)

1 cup chopped walnuts (I did not add nuts)

Directions:

In a bowl, combine eggs and sugar. Add pumpkin, butter and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients; gradually add to pumpkin mixture and mix well. Stir in zucchini and nuts. Pour into two greased and floured 9-in x 5-in loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until bread test done. Cool in pans 10 minutes. Remove to a wire rack.

Enjoy! Try not to eat it all at once 🙂

This recipe had great reviews and you can check out the recipe here.
